Student Well-being – 9th RESI Conference in September 2025 at University of Duhok
STUDENTS FIRST. UNIVERSITIES LISTEN. TOGETHER FOR A HEALTHIER ACADEMIC FUTURE!
What does it mean to thrive as a student in today’s Iraq? Beyond access to education, questions of well-being are becoming increasingly urgent. Stress, uncertainty, social pressures, and ongoing crises deeply affect the lives of students. To ensure that higher education is not only about academic success but also about healthy, fulfilling student lives, we need new perspectives and joint action.
The upcoming RESI-Student-Conference will take place on 25 September 2025 at the University of Duhok. Around 250 students from all academic disciplines will work together in 10 interdisciplinary, problem-oriented workshops, developed by professors and lecturers from Iraq, Germany, and Austria. Together they will explore how student well-being can be better understood, measured, and strengthened – and what role universities can play in this process.
Rethink Education and Science in Iraq-Student-Conferences are extracurricular events designed to strengthen academia, dialogue, and reconciliation in post-war Iraq. They bring together students, academics, and civil society for collaborative work and critical reflection. Each conference creates a safe, inclusive space for exchange and aims to contribute concrete ideas for Iraq’s future.
At the end of the day, participants will present their results in a final public conference event, where their visions will be shared with university leadership, professionals, and policy makers. The outcomes will not only highlight the importance of student well-being but also feed into broader debates on reconstruction, modernization of teaching, and reconciliation in Iraq.
