RESI-Concept Workshop in 2023

Preparing for the next RESI Conference 2024 “Building Futures Together!” – Be part of the preparation workshop

"Building Futures Together!" will be the theme of the RESI Student Conference in spring 2024. Students, academics of all stages, and civil society actors will come together for a week to address challenges for reconstruction and reconciliation in Iraq. In 2024, we will not only develop and discuss ideas, but use the conference to make a start together. The special feature of this year's conference will be the realization of concrete projects in which scientifically based approaches for the creation of a peaceful and sustainable future for all will be implemented. Projects can be implemented on campus or with civil society partners in the region.

For this, we are looking for teams who are willing to prepare workshops for students in partnership with academics from Europe. The teams will be invited to spend a week in Dortmund with us and European partners to further develop their ideas and plan their workshops together. The Center for Higher Education Didactics of the TU Dortmund will support us in this process.

Academics of all stages and all disciplines are invited to submit concepts and spend a week with us in Dortmund planning their workshops. Staff of all faculties of University of Mosul are eligible to apply. Teams should consist of at least 2 people. Interdisciplinary, gender-balanced and intergenerational teams are preferred. Collaboration with a civil society partner as well as participation in one of the previous RESI conferences is a big plus. Unlike in previous years, this time colleagues who are older or already have experience abroad are also invited. DAAD supports flight and accommodation costs for the stay in Dortmund.

If you are excited to be a part of the RESI Student Conference, please send us your application to # including:

  • A concept for your workshop (min. 3 pages) describing thematic focus, relevance, goals, structure, didactic concept, role of team members, students and civil society partners
  • CVs of all team members

Rethink Education and Science in Iraq (RESI) is a higher education partnership between Mosul University, Graz University and TU Dortmund University. Since 2016 RESI has been supporting Mosul University in its academic rehabilitation.
