RESI-Intensive-Seminars in 2022
General requirements for application
Our intensive courses are one week seminars at TU Dortmund/Germany with a diverse program including academic input lectures, exchange, sitting in lectures, experiencing concepts in practice, field trips, presenting your research in front of a professional audience and much more. Staff of all faculties of University of Mosul are eligible to apply. This course aims to be for young scientists and lecturers with limited international academic experience. Participation is subsidized by a DAAD.
So please just apply, when you are:
- Less than 45 years of age (male) and 50 years (female)
- A postgraduate iraqi citizen working at Mosul University
- Know how to speak some basic english
For Application you need the following documents:
- Your CV (including a list lecturing experience, academic record and list of publications),
- A summary of your thesis; a motivation letter (max. 3 pages) where you state how you, your students and your department will profit from you participating in the seminar,
- A reference letter from a professor from Mosul University,
- If you wish to apply for a scholarship a justification letter (max. 1 page) and related proof
- Scanned copies of an english language certificate,
- A scanned copy of the page of your passport which indicates your full name and address
Please note: Travel to Germany will only be possible with a passport which will be valid at least 6 months after June 2022 and if you had at least two vaccinations from BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca or Janssen-Cilag, or also if you had a combination of two of the above-mentioned different vaccines. The last required individual vaccination must have been at least 14 days before the date of the travel.
An international team of academics from all three partner university will conduct selection interviews based on the selection criteria, ensuring gender equality and involvement of academics from different departments and backgrounds in English in the end of February 2022. All applicants will be notified on the receipt of their application, the process and outcome of the selection process via Email. Selected candidates are expected to contribute to upcoming RESI student conferences as lecturers to share insights and experiences gained in Germany with students and colleagues.
Science for Society – Science to Business: European approaches to knowledge transfer
The time when Universities could operate as “ivory towers” and deposits of secret knowledge and they could focus on teaching and research only, are widely agreed to be over. Today universities have a mission to serve society, by finding ways to transfer the knowledge generated and make it economically usable. The focus of this intensive course at TU Dortmund is on approaches and concepts of knowledge transfer and dissemination to contribute to a positive development of our societies. The RESI team in cooperation with experts of the TU Dortmund Center of Entrepreneurship will put together a diverse program to discuss and engage with up to date approaches to knowledge transfer practiced in Europe.

Improve your academic teaching: European approaches to teaching and learning in University settings
Quests for enhancing the quality and relevance of higher education provision, underline the importance of learning and teaching as a core mission and advocate for learning and teaching activities to be geared towards student learning and success. Furthermore, a meaningful teaching portfolio is of major relevance for building a career in academia. The focus of this intensive course at TU Dortmund is on state-of-the-art approaches to teaching and learning in German higher education institutions. The RESI team in cooperation with experts of the TU Dortmund Department of Academic Teaching & Faculty Development will put together a diverse program to discuss and engage with modern approaches to teaching and learning (including student-centered learning, designing adequate learning environments or using distance education) in both theory and practice.
